Sikandra Fort Agra

This is the Akbar’s tomb located in the serene ambience of Sikandra 3 km away from Agra. The concept of this architectural masterpiece based on the secular leanings and a spirit of religious tolerance that Akbar had cultivated.

The third Mughal Emperor Akbar the Great has himself commenced its construction in around 1600 according to Tartary tradition to commence the construction of one’s one's tomb during one’s one's lifetime. Akbar himself planned his own tomb and selected a suitable site. However, he could not complete it and died. Thus his son Jehangir completed his tomb.
